Lately, I have been allowing my creative side to take over and reembrace my love for photography, design and all things creative.

A Pretty Sweet Sweet 16
On Sunday, I assisted with the decorating for a Sweet 16 party (The guest of honor was identified in a prior photography post). I was in charge of the Candy Buffet/Cake Table. The colors were pink and orange and surprisingly, a lot of the items that I needed were already in my possession. However, I did pick up a few great finds, like the jars I found at The Salvation Army Thrift Store for $1 (yes, I said $1) or the cute containers found on clearance at Michael's. The cake was created by Edgar's Bakery and tied in perfectly with the polka dots theme that the birthday girl wanted. I selected one of her favorite pictures from her recent photoshoot and placed it in a frame. Utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint, I also created two signs and placed them in frames. Additional pictures that I printed were added to poster boards for her friends to sign upon entering the party. The color coordinating candy were purchased at Michael's, The Dollar Store and Sugar. The candy buffet was a HIT!Friday, August 17, 2012
Who Doesn't Love Arts and Crafts?
Another fave at the recent baby shower that I attended included arts and crafts instead of the "traditional shower games". It was wonderful! Teams were divided and each had a different theme to create on plain wooden photo frames. All of the supplies were provided and one team was chosen as the winner. It was really hard to decide from this group of creative geniuses. The best thing about this activity, the proud parents get to take them home and actually use them for their baby's important moments. The themes included: Baby's 1st Bath, Baby's 1st Day Playing Sports, Baby's 1st Dr's Visit, Christening, 1st Day of School, Baby's 1st Easter, Favorite College Sport's Team, Baby's 1st Birthday, 1st Halloween, and 1st Christmas. Which one do you like best?

Found On Pinterest
One of my friends had a baby shower a few weeks ago at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It was absolutely lovely and quite creative. One of the Sweets Table items that I would like to highlight derived from a post featured on Pinterest. M&M's that matched the party's colors were placed in plastic champagne flutes and topped with a cupcake. I LOVE IT! Guests could also take the entire flute with them as a parting gift. This is one idea that I will be using at a later time.Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Sweet 16 Doesn't Have to Be Sugary Sweet
I did a photo session with a soon-to-be 16 year old on Sunday afternoon. It was great (a little hot, but great none the less). After three locations and three wardrobe changes, this is what we got:
As you can see, this 16 year old didn't necessarily go for just "bubblegum pop" look; it's ok to be a little edgy too. Doesn't she look great!
Here are a few shots after using the app that I highlighted in a previous post:

Project: Closet Makeover
I am attempting the impossible...making a former bachelor's closet fit for two. I have officially accepted this assignment and have began researching closet organization tips. Some quite useful tips that I have located so far include the following:
- Use a bulletin board or coat rack to store jewelry
- Use old jewelry gift boxes in drawers to create a divider
- Use shower curtain hooks or valet hooks in closet for accessory storage
Here are some before pictures:
I'm looking for a little closet inspiration so please send me your thoughts.
***UPDATE***
I have a few closet inspirational photographs:
I purchased one of these (hanging shelves) so far and I plan on picking up a few more.
Whoever came up with the idea of using shower curtain hooks to hang your hand bags is a GENIUS. Enough said.
LOVE IT!
